DAY 25 12 JULY ELIZABETH CREEK TO DOOMADGEE
Road was pretty good all day but I was knackered. Only just made it out to the bitumen for a very slow run the last 8 km to Doomadgee. Everyone very dry. I drank a 1.25 L softdrink at the roadhouse. We then went in to Doomadgee to stock up supplies at the (very large, well stocked) store. I drank nearly 2L of flavoured milk at the shop. Loaded up we headed about 4 km out of town to camp. Went beyond the sewerage ponds to camp beside the rubbish tip. We could still hear the “thump, thump” of the local band until about 5 in the morning.
What looked like the Qld gov. twin turbo prop
plane buzzed the town while we were shopping. It seemed to leave about 10:30pm when the main (but not all) music stopped.
