DAY 24 11 JULY LAWN HILL TO ELIZABETH CREEK

DAY 24 11 JULY LAWN HILL TO ELIZABETH CREEK

Back out along the crappy corrugations and dust (no-one fell off this time)  the 14 km to the main road.

The corrugations disappeared as soon as we headed north through Lawn Hill station.  Across the (flowing mid-shin deep) Lawn Hill Creek crossings and on to the blacksoil plains. Nice firrm road but the slightly rough clay peds making the road were tiring to rattle over. Through a few dry gullies, met the maitre d’ from the Lawn Hill restaurant who said to camp at Elizabeth Creek at 60 km along.  Only surface water near the road although road parallels a major Creek for many kms).

Finally got there after lunch (me 2 mon noodles,  everyone else a jam sandwich)  in and beside the abandoned shell of an old Blitz truck.

  1. Lunch stop-old Blitz truck provided seating and shade

Brian picked a magnificent campsite a few hundred metres along the bank.

We all had dip baths (scoop bowl of water from creek and ppur over – possible self closing handbags in big pools)

Good night
