DAY 22 9 JULY GREGORY RIVER TO LAWN HILL
Packed up, including water from town supply night before,
First 40km downwind on initially bitumen, the rolled earth capped with molassis to suppress dust (quite good surface) until the turnoff to the Century zinc mine (now closed).
From there on, crappy corrugations and loose dust. Even the last 15 km into Adels Grove waa mostly corrugations and loose dust. Even the powerful Christine was cranky by
end of 40km of this rubbish road. First Brian dropped his bike in the dust, the Bruce then me. It was very hard work making progress.
Finally got to Adele’s Grove on the edge of Lawn Hill gorge national park. An oasi of green and shade with showers, Icy Pole ice-cream and a fish and chip dinner. Magnificent!
