DAY 8 UNDARRA RESORT AND LAVA TUBES TOUR

Bruce led the others through a ‘closed to cycles’ track to the Kondarri Crater after breakfast while I did laundry and recovered a bit.

Mid-morning they were back and after lunch we headed off on the ‘active’ lava tubes tour.The commercial Savannah Way guide was moderately knowledgeable but very friendly as we scrambled over rocks into several tubes and learnt about aboriginal use of the rainforest patches around the tubes. Also that they apparently never went underground themselves.

Back to the resort for dinner and bed. A tough day but necessary rest day.
