Finally got a red wine with a meal! Probably good not to drink alcohol with the chronic dehydration on 19 hour flights (11.5 Perth- Dubai, 7.5 Dubai – London). Emirates Airlines meals are big, four course including entrees, salad, meat and dessert. And the cabin crews are efficient and friendly. Well done Emirates.

I am amazed by the diversity of races, cultures and nationalities both as crew (at least six different nationalities working on Perth-Dubai), passengers and in Dubai transit. Arrival at Stanstead Airport was uneventful, got to the luggage carousel and my bike box came in upside down as the bottom had dropped out of it! I had forgotten to tape it shut. Credit to the baggage handlers as nothing was missing. Well done guys.
