Thanks to Jerry and his Toyota Troopie, Bruce and I were in at the Manning Gorge caravan park yesterday.
Today Christine and Linda rode in having spent an extra 100 kms and a day on the road as they were able to ride and didn’t need to get a lift as Bruce and I did. Bruce and I got a lift with Jerry out to the roadhouse and met Linda and Christine there.
Linda spat the dummy when Bruce pulled out the electronics he was lugging along the road; three phones including a satellite phone, a tablet and a laptop computer. Bruce is a serious technophile.
After a few expensive hamburgers and getting some supplies we drove the 5 kms back to camp with Jerry as Linda and Christine rode in. From comments, I understand that the girls could have done without the grand finish of multiple kilometres of loose dirt and deep dust.
After that we set up camp, a neighbour gave us a couple of potatoes and an onion which were welcome vegetables for dinner. The campfire we camped around was still smouldering from the previous occupants so it was just a matter of collecting firewood and fanning the fire to get dinner going. The campground has showers (cold unless you get in early but then the weather was warm) and a washing machine which is great.
And that was it.
