Bruce, Christine and I flew into Kununurra (lovely name isn’t it? Beats Bullock Creek or Innaloo) on Saturday 18 July to get ready for the adventure. Linda flew in on Sunday.
We had booked two rooms at the Kununurra Lakeside Resort. A good arrangement as the boys were in one room (five minutes after moving in it looked like a bomb had gone off in it) and the girls in the other (two days later and so tidy the cleaning lady would have to hunt to find something to do). The resort was quiet, far enough out of town that the locals wouldn’t help themselves to our stuff or upset us, on the shores of the lagoon (no swimming! Self closing handbags likely in occupation) and less than 2kms from the centre of town.
After assembling the bikes in the afternoon light we rode into Kununurra for milk and muesli and to get the lie of the land. After that it was time for barramundi at the resort restaurant.
