DAY 46 4 AUGUST REST AND SWIM AT MATARANKA AND MEET BROTHER PETER
After a short stroll with our pool noodles hired from the CP office we were at the Bitter Springs thermal pool. The idea here is loop your thongs over your pool noodle and enter the 34C water. Then float gently downstream on the 129 litres/second flow for about 100m, get out and repeat. If you spot a turtle while floating on the crystal clear waters that is a bonus.
Then a machine launder of the fairly ripe cycling clothing and bedding before riding gently the 3km back to town.
A bit of searching the shops and fuel stops found the great Mataranka camel or beef pies made on the premises. Very good pies.
I had one of each.
Then to the post office to send another authorisation for Robyn to pick up my mail at home (worked this time).
And back to camp for a swim again.
That night we headed off to the next door camp ground the Territory Manor, for dinner and met brother Peter and his mate Rob attthe Territory Manor Gate as they arrived in Mataranka.
A very pleasant dinner with a few beers followed.
Then our bicycle headlights and taillights sparkled in the night as we rode home.
