StragglingStu and friends set off with their bicycles and the Magic Saucepan to ride in the Pilbara of Western Australia.
Major stops are the gorges of the Karijini National Park and the sparkling waters of the Milstream-Chichester National Park.

Along the way we will try to survive without Brian who was the rock upon which our Cairns-Darwin trip was based. But we do have the Magic Saucepan, a battered 4 litre aluminium saucepan, for campfire cooking of the pasta and tuna. Also our trusty Trangia’s and an MSR stove if things get too tough.
The trip starts with a 16 hour bus ride from Perth to Nanutarra Roadhouse on the western edge of the Pilbara region. Then it is straight in to the desert on the (good) road to the iron mining centre of Tom Price to shower before heading into the gorges of the Karajini NP. There we will enjoy the iron red ranges and clear watered creeks while avoiding the King Brown and Death Adder snakes that nearly killed an English tourist a month ago (bleeding from the eyes seems to be a feature of snake bites in this part of the world).
Then it is heading west through the Chichester-Millstream NP to the aboriginal pictographs (pecked rock engravings) on the Dampier Peninsular before catching the bus home again from Karrartha.
Should be fun.
